Imma Ávalos

Writer and visual artist. Her latest work, “Articantartic” culminates with the novel “Germà de Gel” (L’Altra Editorial, 2016) which received the Documenta 2015 Prize for writers aged under 35 years. She has collaborated with the CCCB.

Alicia Kopf, artistic name of Imma Ávalos, studied Fine Arts and Literary Theory and Comparative Literature. As a visual artist, she held the solo show Seal Sounds Under the Floor (2013) at Galeria Joan Prats in Barcelona (GAC/DKV award) and participated in several group exhibitions, including Pis(o) pilot(o),at the CCCB (2015), and Nonument (2014) at Capella dels Àngels, MACBA.

She has recently published her first novel Hermano de hielo (Alpha Decay, 2016), which won the 2015 Documenta prize and the 2016 Llibreter award.

She currently teaches Communication at the Universitat Oberta de Catalunya and contributes to various media.
